A rainbow of origami cranes suspended above the altar at Marissa and Brandon’s September wedding at a private retreat called Nestldown has to be one of my all-time favorite examples of DIY wedding creativity. rhee bevere photography captured all of the playful, colorful details of their wedding, including bouquets and boutonnieres made from buttons, pinwheel centerpieces and an ice cream truck! Marissa folded every one of those cranes by hand – totaling 1001!
A Nestldown wedding with handmade origami cranes in Campbell, CA
I really wanted to go against the rules of choosing two or three colors and using those for EVERYTHING. I was a little worried that using so many colors would turn into a circus, but I really think that colors can affect a person’s mood, so I wanted to play with that. I really wanted to take people out of their typical wedding mindset, and allow them to really have fun. I think that part of the reason that Brandon and I get along so well is because we are both truly kids at heart, so it was important to reflect that in the feeling and look of our wedding. – Marissa
