From the photographer:
Set in Singapore, the concept for this shoot was born out of a desire to explore tropical and minimal themes using ikebana principles. Ikebana, which means “living flowers”, allows arrangements to be designed in a life-like manner. Flowers and plants are thoughtfully arranged to be even more beautiful than when found in nature. We were inspired by the imagery of a bamboo forest growing out of the ground, and the designers brought in locally foraged bamboo to create an installation. Various ikebana arrangements were inspired by foliage native to the island. As major proponents of appreciating what’s around you, we sought to draw out the beauty of this tropical island city-state while emphasizing the beauty of a minimal, tropical bride with understated elegance.

Our shoot was set in a beautiful light-filled industrial studio, providing the negative space we needed to create our vision. We styled our model in both free flowing and sleek ethereal gowns with minimal detailing; finishing off her natural and clean look with bold brows, and a sprig of lady palm to accent her simple bun. A nature inspired, champagne diamond ring was designed and crafted specifically for this shoot.

We wanted to update the tropical aesthetic with a green, white and cream colored palette instead of the typical bright colors that so often permeate a tropical aesthetic. We opted for a foliage driven bouquet and centerpiece with anthurium and orchid highlights. For the table, we aimed for a natural, pared down look, and kept the feeling light and airy by using ghost chairs against cream colored linens. Simple, elemental details were used to top off our look –  including river rocks used for chopstick and candlestick holders, and handcrafted ceramic vessels. We completed the look with an invitation suite highlighting modern typography.
