8 Whimsical Christos Costarellos Wedding Gowns from the Spring 2017 Collection
Romantic wedding gowns with sensual, boho flair—that’s what designer Christos Costarellos is all about. Since 1998, his Greek fashion house has been creating bridal collections and ready-to-wear ensembles inspired by ancient Greek philosophy.
His latest collection boasts classic aesthetics with a modern twist and are so ethereal and timeless. Take a look at these whimsical gowns from the spring 2024 collection.
First we have a modern ball gown named Evie. This strapless gown is both feminine and modern and is completely unembellished.
The all–over ruched bodice pairs well with the tiered ruffle tulle skirt and is oh-so voluminous. The bride looks like she’s floating on a cloud in this light and airy design. Although ball gowns are typically known for a more formal setting, we think this style would play well for any type of nuptial like a romantic destination wedding.
Since the gown is pretty much a clean slate, brides can decide to let the simple aesthetic shine or jazz things up by adding a sparkly belt or detachable sleeves.
Caught up in romance? This dreamy A-line gown, called Dianira, is a classic fairytale princess.
The whimsical gown is covered head-to-toe in stunning lace embroidery over tulle fabric. It features a corset-inspired bodice with semi-exposed boning for a hint of vintage charm. The straight neckline extends to feminine sheer tulle off-the-shoulder sleeves with 3D floral applique.
We’re getting romantic garden vibes from this gown and would love to see it for a spring wedding. A luxe outdoor ceremony surrounded by greenery and multi-color florals comes to mind in terms of scenery.
Prepare to be dazzled by the Filomela gown! This style is definitely more show-stopping, and sexy, compared to the first two gowns.
The sheath silhouette is totally glam and made entirely of sparkly embellished tulle. The plunging v-neckline is super sexy and thicker straps allow you to wear your favorite bra for all-day comfort. A sweeping chapel train is a gentle finish.
This style is perfect for an old Hollywood-themed wedding. It would also make a stunning reception dress—with a grand entrance, of course. Continue the glitzy aesthetic with a pair of statement earrings and fabulous shoes.
For our bohemian brides, the Theia gown may be more your style. Although it’s one piece, the gown features a short mini skirt with a unique semi-sheer overlay.
Embroidered lace covers the bride from the high turtleneck down to the airy godet skirt made of dot-embroidered French tulle. The long-sleeves give a subtle bishop-style look and feel while the cumberbund-esque drop-waist detailing adds definition and visual appeal.
This vintage-inspired yet playful design would be perfect for a carefree elopement—whether it’s in the desert or on a mountain. The material is lightweight enough for any season, but we think fall nuptials would be dreamy.
For something that’s sexy up top and traditional on the bottom, meet Melaina. This ball gown is perfect for the modern yet romantic bride with unsuspecting accents.
The gown is crafted from elegant plissé soft French tulle, making it airy and breathable for the bride, plus the all-over pleating adds texture to the otherwise unembellished design. The bodice features double diamond-shaped cutouts at the center and a plunging v-neckline that drapes elegantly into billowy off-the-shoulder sleeves.
The voluminous skirt is totally romantic and a dramatic end to the overall contemporary design. It’s a great choice for the bride that values a clean aesthetic with unique details.
The most lightweight (and in our opinion, sexy) gown on our list is the amazing Athene wedding dress.
Similar to the Theia gown, this style has a bodysuit base while the overlay dress features embroidered semi-sheer tulle. The sheath silhouette leads with thick straps and a plunging v-neckline. 3D floral applique lace adorns the gown from the top of the shoulders down to the drop waist before falling into the sheer all-tulle skirt.
This fun-loving yet romantic gown is definitely worthy of a beach ceremony. The airy fabric will make it easy to pack for a destination wedding, whether it’s Cabo or the Bahamas.
Another boho option with vintage flair is the Melia wedding dress. The lacy fit-and-flare gown has so many amazing elements that both traditional and modern brides will love.
The gown leads with a corset-inspired semi-sheer bodice with structural boning and a trail of fabric-covered buttons that lead down to the drop waist. Dreamy off-the-shoulder puff sleeves give it a vintage touch while the solid, defined cupping is a bold accent.
For a whimsical touch, vertical ruffles are featured on the long, godet skirt while the deep middle slit is very sexy. This gown exudes romance, and we love it for a summer soiree.
For our final favorite, the designer calls the Evadne gown a timeless beauty and we completely agree.
The elegant cream-colored ball gown is crafted from luxurious silk flocked French tulle and features a stunning v-neck bodice. Wispy lace flower appliques adorn the gown, for a whimsical touch, starting at the top of the straps and gently cascading all the way down to the full skirt. A cathedral-length train is the grand finale.
This ultra-romantic design works year round and we imagine a more formal setting. Since the florals are so bold on the gown, we’d pair it with a small bouquet of white calla lilies for a soft touch.
