We can’t get enough of grooms who express their own sense of style. It is easy to overlook men’s wedding wear as a sort of uniform, but that should never be the case. His options are endless regardless of whether he prefers to look polished, laid-back, or a mixture of the two.
Black and white is a timeless choice for the groom and his groomsmen. If he wants to keep it classic, he can personalize with a boutonniere done in his favorite color or with a favorite accessory. His signature glasses, watch, or hairstyle will do.
On the other hand, there are many ways to execute alternative, rustic or entirely unique styles. Think about playing with color, texture and pattern. For example, we love a three-peice grey suit made out of a subtle tweed paired with a polka dotted navy tie.
For a destination wedding or a soiree on the beach, he can embrace his surroundings with a more casual all-white or light monochromatic ensemble.
What about the groomsmen? They should be coordinated in some way but they don’t have to match perfectly. In fact, an easy way to differentiate the groom from his groomsmen is to keep at least one detail different, such as the color of the tie or suit.
To create a look tailored to his own tastes, he can incorporate a textured bowtie, a patterned pocket square, a distinctive pair of shoes or an heirloom ring.
In order to balance these details, keep color and composition in mind. With pattern, go tone on tone. In general, stay with timeless shades that complement one another and choose one or two standout pieces – keep everything else understated.
Above all else, he should stay true to his style. A great way to approach dressing for your wedding day is to elevate your everyday aesthetic. This will result in an effortless, comfortable and wearable look.
