Kate Spade New York may be known for fabulous and quirky handbags, but the models for the Spring 2020 ready-to-wear collection were blossoming in leafy-print attire, chic green leather, and even daring crochet dresses. With the late Kate Spade as inspiration, the collection has a variety of options for any age, shape or size.
Along with the city-safari themed apparel, the collection features color-layered sandals, pops of brightly hued earrings and scarves, textured purses and oversized totes—perfect for flower picking. Best of all, you don’t need to have a green thumb to wear these garden-inspired styles. Spring can’t get here soon enough! Take a look at our top favs from the new collection.
1. The Flowery White Dress
This simple white flower gown paired with an army-green trench coat is giving us subtle 70’s vibes.
Plus, the flower power is on point with a large multi-colored tote bag. And no need to settle on just one bag! A small crossbody holds all your essentials in the palm of your hands.
2. The Chic Green Leather Dress
What we love most about this leather dress is that it’s totally easy to add accessories without stealing focus from the dress. A bright patterned scarf adds a pop of spring to a darker green. Plus, those orange flats? LOVE!
3. The Preppy Overlay Dress
Flora meets Blair Waldorf in this preppy white overlay dress. We can totally see a bride rocking this dress for a beach wedding if they’re looking for something casual yet classy. A colorful tote keeps with the flower motif in a powerful (but not overpowering) way.
4. The Emerald Green Dress
The lace floral detail on this dress is totally amazing. It’s similar to the preppy overlay dress with the buttons and collar, but sweet enough to work as a bridesmaid dress.
P.S., we’re in love with the wicker shoulder bag!
5. The Safari Adventure Dress
This dress just screams African safari—perfect for an adventurous bride jet-setting to her honeymoon.
Again, the scarf adds a touch of spring to this crème-colored outfit. Pair the ensemble with a large pair of sunglasses and you are ready to travel the world!
6. The Crochet Wonder Dress
This isn’t your grandma’s afghan… it’s a hand-stitched masterpiece. Not only are the colors totally vibrant but just imagine how comfortable this dress would be!
Kate Spade’s design team definitely went bold with this option, and we’re digging it.
7. The Beige V-neck Dress
This dress is probably my favorite because it’s totally practical and versatile. We love pairing a low v-neck dress with a sheer leaf-print blouse. Plus, beige is a perfect color for a wedding guest to wear year-round.
8. The Mother-daughter Duo
You’re never too old to mix and match with mom! Large floral prints are a huge theme for the Spring collection, and these dresses are a prime example. Just imagine walking into your engagement party in this long, flowy dress. All eyes would be on you!
9. The Romantic Satin Dress
Romance is in the air with this long, satin dress. The knot at the neckline and flutter sleeves add a girlish charm, bringing the attention to your beautiful face. The slit adds a touch of sexy in a classy way. Imagine all your bridesmaids lined up for your outdoor Spring wedding in this number. WOW!
10. The Succulent Dress
This dress hit the nail on the head with the garden theme. The blue-green plant design is giving us succulent vibes. The high neckline and long scarf add an extra feminine touch. The colors and the model are totally glowing!
11. The Retro Dress
Another nod to the 70’s—this tweed Austin Powers-inspired jumper. As one of the only short dresses in the collection, it’s perfect for lunch with the bridal party before the big day. Plus, did you see the purse? A match made in heaven!
12. The Olive Dress
The Kate Spade team really played with color for this ensemble. While an olive-colored dress with ¾ sleeves seems like the perfect pick for fall, adding colorful accessories make it a must-have for spring. We love the mustard-yellow platform sandals and the oxymoron of the tiny elephant purse—a perfect nod to Kate Spade’s quirky handbag collection.
All in all, this collection lived up to the garden theme by showcasing natural, relaxing, practical and feminine designs—perfect for every age and type of woman. The Spring 2020 collection will be available in Kate Spade stores and online at Kate Spade in February.
