Real Weddings | Erin + Ken

Erin and Ken’s honeymoon in Ireland was the inspiration for this lovely summer wedding.  At the ceremony, rose petals lined the aisle, with the vibrant green golf course and dramatic waterfall in the background. Then at the reception, gorgeous chandeliers, wood accents and soft candelight set the tone for an elegant affair. With family and friends surrounding them, it was the perfect celebration…and perfect way to start their new life together!

The ceremony

We held our ceremony at  rose-petal strewn golf course site, complete with Irish folk band and large waterfall in the background. We honeymooned in Ireland for ten days, so my sister designed the ceremony program to look like a Celtic interpretation of a large tree near the ceremony site.

The reception

A woodsy ballroom at Fox Hills with six large crystal chandeliers and floor-to-ceiling windows was the perfect location for our reception. Some of the centerpieces had large branches reaching up to the chandeliers. Our florist (Petal Pushers from Green Bay) did an incredible job seeing our vision to completion. The trellis used for the outdoor ceremony was transported to the ballroom behind the bride and groom’s seats. I designed our cake table to feature old wedding photos of the grandparents from both sides.

Why Erin decided to sell her wedding dress

While the design of my dress is timeless, I have a sneaking suspicion that Ken and I will have boys when we eventually start having children. He comes from a family of four boys and one girl. So the chances of me having a daughter who will actually want to wear a dress designed for the durability of travel and summer weather seem fairly low. I’d rather sell the dress to a lovely woman of my stature who finds that my dress fits her exact style and ceremony vibe.
