Real Wedding | Megan + Brian

All the brilliant colors of fall are perfectly displayed at this gorgeous wedding. I love all of Megan’s DIY touches like the fun hand made place mats, unique seasonal centerpieces, and memorable photo frame “guest book.” Most of all I love the radiant faces of the charming bride and groom…clearly in love and so happy to be celebrating their special day with friends and family. Cheers!

Megan + Brian | October 16, 2010 | Erie, Pennsylvania

The ceremony

Brian and I wanted to be married in the Catholic church, so we choose beautiful Saint Patrick Parish in Erie. My uncle walked me down the aisle, behind my three bride’s maids and my three flower girls. The ceremony was beautiful, meaningful and exactly what we wanted. There were even a few pranks in the mix, such as the best man pulling out crackerjack box when it was time to exchange the rings and the grooms side of the family holding up score cards during our first kiss!

The reception

I had really wanted something different for our reception. Capers is an intimate restaurant with modern decor.  The walls are filled with art for sale for a local gallery and it changes to reflect the seasons. I decorated with wrought iron pumpkin candle holders, mums, and handmade placemat out of scrapbook paper for each guest. I had made it known to everyone involved that I wanted to limit the formalities and leave more time for mingling and of course dancing!  Once the first dance was over I didn’t leave the dance floor until the last song played.  I think  most people felt the same way because the dance floor was packed.  It really was the best day!

How Megan felt in her wedding dress

Amazing, glamorous, and content

Why Megan decided to sell her wedding dress

I remember that feeling I had when I tried my dress on for the first time.  I also remember how I felt about it when I put in on my wedding day.  Most importantly I remember how I felt when the day was over and I had to take it off. I want someone else to have those same feelings.
