Real Wedding | Kaitlin + Kevin

Prepare to fall in love…with this amazing fall wedding! This gorgeous New Hampshire wedding leaves me longing for a New England holiday. Kaitlin married her sweetheart Kevin in an intimate celebration that included loads of charming touches: fall colors on display, adorable pumpkin “placecards”, sweet miniature bottles of maple syrup as favors, a beautiful cake & cupcake display featuring a fall motif. But the true centerpiece of this celebration was Kaitlin, in her amazing Vera Wang gown, complete with an oh-so-chic lace bolero worn at the ceremony…absolutely stunning!

Kaitlin + Kevin | October 7, 2011 | Bedford, New Hampshire

We were married last fall, in a quaint ceremony in Bedford, New Hampshire. There were less then 100 people at our wedding, which was quite a feat because we both have large families and plenty of friends, but both wanted a smaller more intimate wedding. We chose New Hampshire because it is where I grew up and is far away from the hustle and bustle of our New York City lifestyle.

The ceremony

The ceremony was held in the garden of the Bedford Village Inn, which is a bed and breakfast style Inn about a quarter of a mile from where I grew up. The ambiance was what I would describe as rustic elegance. It is an old barn that was transformed into a luxury venue, which fit our theme perfectly. My husband and I knew right away that we would be married there and didn’t even bother looking at other venues.  My husband’s cousin married us, which is tradition in the Okumoto family. It was the perfect day, a modest 69 degrees with plenty of sunlight and a slight breeze. The leaves were starting to turn, but the grounds were still green and plush. In the garden at the Inn there is an elegant fountain elevated near a small gazebo. This is where we were married while our guests sat comfortably below watching the ceremony from the lawn.

The reception

The inside off the Inn has a barn like feel to it, with exposed beams and rustic lighting. It also has an elegant feel with candlelight and fine china and linens. We sprinkled the rustic theme throughout the wedding, using mini pumpkins as place card, branches with hanging candles as centerpieces and fresh maple syrup as gifts for our guests. We also insisted on having the reception be a fun party like atmosphere. We had the coveted Boston based band Eye 2 Eye perform. They were a huge hit with both families and provoked our guests to dance the night away.

How Kaitlin found her dream wedding dress

I knew that I wanted the Vera Wang Ethel dress from the start. I was a little spooked by the price tag of nearly $6000! But, In the beginning I ended up buying a dress that was similar, but could not get this one out of my head. When the dress I bough came in, I knew for sure that it was not the one for me. I ended up selling in on your site and buying this one instead. I absolutely loved it! I wore a lace bolero over it for the ceremony and removed the bolero to reveal the strapless feature at the reception. I also purchased a Priscilla of Boston Vineyard Taylor dress for the reception. This dress was purchased pre-owned and was the perfect dress for dancing the night away!

Glamorous, Beautiful, Special

Why Katilin decided to sell her wedding dress

I know that I will never wear it again and did’t have room in my condo in Hoboken, NJ to store it. Also, I know someone out there will love it as much as I did!
