Jessamyn + Steve | Lazaro Wedding by Nicole Caldwell

What makes a modern wedding so much fun?  A unique sense of style  and creative  touches that let the bride and groom’s personalities shine through. Jessamyn’s bold color scheme and fun DIY accents (love the “ball & chain cake topper!) set the stage for a fabulous celebration. Jessamyn’s Lazaro gown makes a statement too. The full organza skirt is flattering, fun and flirty. Cheers to this gorgeous bride and her handsome husband!

The ceremony

We had our lovely ceremony at the outdoor terrace of Seven Degrees, which is a modern multimedia art gallery. I had the chuppah decorated with paper flowers, made by a lady I found on Etsy. To add a touch of whimsy and we had orchids and crystals at the backdrop. There was a swirl of rose petals running down the aisle. Steven’s cousin, Jason, married us after getting his license as a minister, especially for our wedding. Our colors were white, tan, and orange, perfect for a summer wedding! Steven walked down the aisle carrying our daughter, Zoey, who was not yet able to walk. It was a picture perfect moment and our other daughter Jacelyn, who was 6, was a flower girl as well.

The reception

Our reception was held at Seven-Degrees. It was completely untraditional and modern, just like us! The lighting changed all across the room to whatever color we chose. People were able to tweet their photos and they would appear on the monitors all over the room. We had our cake topper made to our likeness with the ball and chain that added our sense of humor. Again we had paper flowers that hung about our cake and lanterns all around.

The room also was filled with artwork by an artist we love named Michael Phillips (aka Durden). It was “us” written all over that room. For our first dance, we went from a traditional slow dance to trick our guests and busted out with the lindy hop ….How’s that for original?! The crowd roared for that one! It was everything we wanted and more. We wouldn’t have changed a thing!

Jessamyn’s dress search

I started off thinking i would like the trumpet style but the more I tried it on…I realized the dress wasn’t dramatic enough. I ended up with a big ball gown — very dramatic indeed!

The way Jessamyn felt in her wedding dress

Stunning, unique, and playful

Why she decided to sell her wedding dress

Weddings are expensive…Honestly, we need the extra cash, but i really do love my dress and would love to pass it down to my daughters but I don’t want them to feel obligated to wear it since I would like for them to choose their own. I think it takes a very unique individual to wear this dress…someone with that playful fun personality!
