Jane + Trevor | Vera Wang Wedding from Jonathan Gibby Photography

This is an absolute sweetheart of a wedding…intimate, simple and elegant!  I love Jane + Trevor’s choice of venues for all 22 of their guests: nuptials in a butterfly sanctuary and an ‘old-school Chicago’ steakhouse where their closest friends and loved ones could share stories, raise a glass and pay tribute to the union of today’s featured couple. Don’t miss Jane’s stunning Vera Wang gown that comes with already pre-loved, positive vibes.  As it turns out, Jane purchased this dress from another bride on PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com after falling in love with the dress from a photograph on Facebook…and ‘gawking at it for almost three years‘. Pretty great!

The Ceremony
Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum Butterfly Sanctuary – 22 of our closest friends and family, sister stood by my side, his brother his, sister’s life partner married us, my best friend since kindergarten was the vocalist. I’ve been in 12 weddings in my time and have been in bigger wedding parties than our entire wedding!

The Reception
Gibson’s Steakhouse – most famous steakhouse in Chicago, “old school Chicago”.  Housed in the space made famous by Mr. Kelley’s, where Streisand and Sinatra performed, and later occupied by 70’s and 80’s hot spot Sweetwater, Gibsons continues the star studded tradition with a nightly procession of the famous and powerful. You can trace our history pictorially throughout the restaurant where autographed photographs of athletes, politicians, movie stars, rock stars, entertainers of all kinds, and of course the diehard Gibsons “locals” appear.

Jane’s Dress Search
Actually, I saw a friend of a friend’s wedding photos on Facebook two and a half years ago and was infatuated with that dress since.  Upon getting engaged, I was in search of the dress, typing the description into Google, trying to find the designer, a photo even so I could photo match it and hours and hours of searching, I was at a loss.  One day, I was on Pinterest looking at wedding ideas and there it was!  And thank God the photographer named the gown designer, Vera Wang.  I went to the Vera Wang salon here in Chicago and they still had it, but it would take 4 months to even “rush” it and nearly $5k.  I didn’t have that time or that money, I had 6 weeks so I sought out other options, AKA PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com and holy cow, it was there!  I went back and forth with the woman who sold it to me on the phone, text and email.  I could tell she was hesitant about letting it go and I was hesitant about purchasing it sight unseen but I had a good vibe about her and remembered this was THE dress I’ve been gawking at for almost three years now, it was my only shot.  When it arrived, I texted her and let her know it was in my hands safely.  I tried it on, it fit like a glove, no alterations needed, not a one.  I was teary, she texted back that she was just as emotional and was happy it went to a “good home” – I promised her I was going to wear it as beautifully as she did and to go buy a new bag or pair of shoes with the $.  It was a great moment, I felt like it could be from a movie.

How Jane Felt in Her Wedding Dress
Timeless, Elegant, Undeniable

Why Jane Decided to Sell Her Wedding Dress
The experience I had when finally found it, purchased it, when it arrived (I stayed home from work until UPS delivered it) I wanted to pass it on because it was one of those “moments in life”.  It was me and my dress, which was the only material item associated with our wedding.  I want someone else to experience the beauty I did in it, and I know they will.
